The values shown by my scales sometimes varies. What is the tolerance?

Like any measuring instrument, scales can have tolerances. The tolerance is not more than 3 increments either side of the actual weight value. The smaller the increments, the lower the possible deviation. In other words, the accuracy variation, in the case of personal scales with a 100 g incremental display, is under 0.5% in the average body weight range. For example, digital personal scales have a smaller degree of deviation than analog personal scales, due to the more precise graduations.

What is the average life of a battery in a new scale?

1.5 V alkaline battery - 2-3 years 9 V alkaline battery - 1 year 3.0 V lithium battery - 5-10 years

What is the warranty period on scalesexpress scales?

Please refer to the guarantee stated on each individual product as the value is different between manufacturers. Most products have a minimum guarantee of 12 months.

How often should I take a reading with my body fat monitor?

It's really up to you. However, we recommend that you always measure at the same time of day, in the same conditions. For an accurate reading, you should measure 2 to 3 times a day and work out the average. Remember that what you eat and drink in the course of the day and your individual lifestyle will affect your water balance. This is reflected by the body fat monitor in the form of fluctuations in the body fat percentage readings. For more information visit the Body Fat Monitor category.

Why do my new scales give a different reading to my old scales?

Manufacturing tolerances are different, depending on the supplier, so it is advisable not to compare one with another. The key point is the repeatability of the reading / measurement of your own scale.

Why do lines ‘----‘ appear on the scale display?

You have not waited for zero before weighing. On a bathroom scale, the display will show these lines before it displays zero. You must wait for the zeros to appear on the display before stepping on. On a kitchen scale, the lines appear when you have taken something off the scale after using the add & weigh function. Just press the on/zero or tare button to re-zero the display.

Why do my scales keeps showing E or Err or EE?

You have not waited for zero before weighing. On a bathroom scale, the display will show these lines before it displays zero. You must wait for the zeros to appear on the display before stepping on. On a kitchen scale, the lines appear when you have taken something off the scale after using the add & weigh function. Just press the on/zero or tare button to re-zero the display.

Will my bathroom scale be as accurate on carpet as it is on hard floors?

Carpet can cause some differences in the displayed weight, when compared to a hard floor. Deep pile and thick underlays may cause a difference in weight readings. We recommend using your scale on a hard floor to ensure greatest accuracy.

How do I change from kg to stones or pounds?

There should be a small switch underneath the scale. This can be used to switch from grams (kg) to pounds or stones.

How do I set my mechanical scale to zero?

You can set the scale to zero either by regulating the pointer or the dial (depending on the model) using the re-zero knob situated on the front or back of the scale.

How do I weigh several ingredients successively with my kitchen scale?

If your scale has a tare function, when you have weighed your first ingredient press TARE. The scale will return to zero. When you add the next ingredient, only this weight will be displayed.
