Tanita congratulate Dr Yannis Manios and his team who were awarded the Tanita Europe Research Award earlier this month.
Dr Manios, Head of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department at Harokopio University in Greece, received an MC780MA Body Composition Analyser and grant funding for his outstanding research proposal, which investigated body composition changes throughout adult life stages in over 700 participants. Mr Takeshi Yamakoshi from Tanita Europe and Mr Stergios Zografos from Serinth Medical Distribution visited Dr Manios to present the award.
The Tanita Europe Research Awards have been launched to further investigate changes in body composition though each life stage.
Since the creation of the world’s first stand-on BIA system in 1992, Tanita has worked closely with the scientific community to develop a range of professional body composition monitors, proven to be the most accurate on the market today.
Tanita would like to further validate and expand the use of BIA technology into new areas by supporting innovative scientific research projects. The key areas of interest include investigating obesity related diseases, physical activity and weight management programmes.
The key areas of current interest include:
- Validation studies of Adult Body Composition using TANITA BIA vs DXA
- Longitudinal studies involving tracking physical activity levels and changes in body composition over time
