Patrick has seven Llamas of varying sizes and wanted an accurate way of monitoring their weight, because in his own words 'they look like they could win the South Wales fat Llama competition!' Scalesexpress had the perfect veternary scale solution.
"I tried various cheap methods, including a door on two bathroom scales and a spring balance. In the end I decided I needed a decent electronic floor scale. The problem is that a Llama is a physically large animal, but not that heavy. The more expensive large animal scales would have been large enough but I didn't need the weight range. The scales I bought from you had exactly the right weight range" said Patrick.
"The only problem was that Llamas are very cautious animals and would not go anywhere near the black rubber scales surface. I made up a wooden platform for the top of the scales and glued wood shavings to it. This worked well and Llamas walked onto the scales with no problems. I can now weigh the llamas without any help and the scale display unit is very good for my application, i.e. enough features to make it useful but not too many to make it confusing or time consuming to set up."
The Marsden VS250E Larger Animal Veterinary Scale has a clear bright LCD, stainless steel non-tip platform and AC adaptor / dry cell battery operation (adaptor included). The LCD display is wall or desk mountable. Maximum capacity is 250 kg / 550 lb with a graduation of 100 g / 0.2 lb. A large 1050 x 505 x 50 mm platform provides plenty of weighing space.
"I also make test rigs for the renewable energy sector (wavepower). The scales are useful for weighing the rig and pallet so I can cost up transport fees."
